Terms of Service

Last updated October 18, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Morais Labs LLC, a New York limited liability company doing business as Gwion ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Gwion, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information.

1. Who can use Gwion

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf before you buy a paid plan. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account. An account is for one person: please don’t share your sign-in. Study tools, narration and equation recovery work on one device at a time; using them on another device moves them there.

2. What Gwion is

Gwion is a reading and study tool. It displays documents you open in your browser and offers features that use our servers: finding a document's sections, AI-generated study material, narration, and recovering equations from page images. Features may change as we improve Gwion. We will not remove a feature you are paying for during a billing period you have already paid for.

3. Plans, allowances and billing

Allowances renew at the start of each calendar month (UTC) and unused allowance does not carry over. Paid plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. Prices include any sales tax or VAT.

Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record. When you subscribe, you buy through Stripe, and Stripe's own terms for that purchase also apply. Your card statement may show the charge under Stripe's Link name rather than Gwion.

We may change prices or allowances. If a change affects a plan you are on, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.

4. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in the account menu. You keep your plan until the end of the month you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.

5. Refunds

If you are not happy with your first payment for a paid plan, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of that payment, provided that since then you have used fewer than 10 study sections, less than 1 hour of voice and fewer than 10 re-read pages. Write to support@gwion.app from the email on your account. This refund is available once per person, whatever account or payment card is used, and a refunded plan ends immediately. Apart from that, payments are not refundable, including for partial months, except where the law requires otherwise.

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. Because Gwion starts working as soon as you subscribe, if you withdraw after using it you may be charged for what you used. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the consumer laws where you live.

6. Your documents and content

You keep all rights to the documents you open and the notes you make. You give us permission to process them only as needed to provide the features you use, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not claim ownership of your content, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Only use documents you have the right to use. Some documents, such as many academic papers, are protected by copyright; Gwion is meant for your own reading and study.

Features that send text to our servers (study tools, narration, section finding and equation recovery) are not designed for confidential records or sensitive personal information about other people, such as health or identity records. Please don’t use them for that material.

7. AI-generated material

Study tools use AI to produce summaries, questions, concept maps and similar material. This material can be incomplete or wrong. Check it against the original document, and do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or other professional decisions.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Gwion to break the law or infringe anyone's rights; try to get around allowances, rate limits or security measures; access the service by automated means other than the app itself; interfere with Gwion or other people's use of it; or resell access to it. We may suspend or close accounts that do, and for serious or repeated misuse we may do so without notice.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe material processed through Gwion infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent at legal@gwion.app or by post to the address below, including the information required by the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act. We respond to valid notices and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

10. Our name and software

Gwion and the Gwion logo are trademarks of Morais Labs LLC. The Gwion software and design belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any right to use them except to use Gwion as offered. Open-source components are used under their own licenses.

11. Ending these terms

You can stop using Gwion and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or stop offering Gwion with reasonable notice; if we stop offering Gwion, we will refund any unused part of a period you have paid for.

12. Disclaimers

We work hard to make Gwion reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of important documents and back up your library.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or opportunity, and our total liability to you for any claim about Gwion is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Gwion after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel and delete your account.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved that way will be heard in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York. If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring claims in your local courts.
